Ant & Dec
Anthony McPartlin & Declan Donnelly
Anthony and Declan met at the age of 13 on the set of the long
running kid's drama series Byker Grove. Set in their native Newcastle
they played geordie tearaways PJ and Duncan.
The popularity of the show, and in particular their characters,
allowed the boys to launch a pop career and in 1993 they debut
single 'Tonight I'm Free' was released.
In 1995 they broke into TV presenting with BBC1's The Ant &
Dec Show which was soon followed by Channel 4's Ant & Dec
Unzipped. In 1998, they formed their own production company Ant
& Dec Productions, and launched and presented SMTV Live &
CD UK, both of which which aired on Saturday mornings.
The shows proved to be a huge hit and also introduced them to
Cat Deeley. They left the show in 2001 and went on to present
Pop Idol, while Cat Deeley went on to present rival show Fame
Academy.
In 2002 they hosted their own prime time ITV1 show, Ant &
Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway & in April 2003 they travelled
to the Australian rain forest to host the second series of I'm
A Celebrity....Get Me Out of Here.
Last year, they won Best Entertainment Personality award at the
National Television Awards for the second year running - plus
a special award for their contribution to television.
