The Show
Fame Academy is the BBC's attempt at an ongoing reality TV show
to compete with ITV's Pop Idol and Pop Stars.
Hosted by Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty, the show follows twelve
pop hopefuls or 'students', who spend ten weeks in a camera-filled
country house, being tutored in the art of pop.
As each week passes another student is voted out of the academy.
The eventual winner is awarded a million pound record contract,
a new car, a luxury flat and an exotic holiday.
In last years finale 3.5 million votes were cast and David Sneddon
emerged as the winner, beating fellow student finalists Lemar
Obika and Sinead Quinn.
The Prize
This year's winner receives a one-year three-album contract
from Polydor Records, the company behind Eminem, 50 Cent, Sting,
Ian Brown, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Ms Dynamite.
They will also land a showbiz lifestyle for a year which includes
a luxury flat, a flash sports car, a holiday for two, a personal
stylist and VIP tickets to some of the year's biggest events.
